Many times a patient yearns for tasty snacks which can be made in a jiffy. Moong dal flour thalipeeth (pancake) is the answer.
In India, besan or gram flour is used extensively to prepare tasty snacks. But during treatment, patients cannot digest food made using gram flour. So instead of gram flour, make use of moong dal flour. It is easy to digest and no change in taste.
Serve this hot thalipeeth (pancake) with homemade butter, mint chutney or dry chutney. You can serve this as an evening snack or have it along with mix vegetable soup. It becomes a complete dinner.
I present to you healthy, nutritious, filling and easy to cook moong dal flour thalipeeth.
Ingredients for making thalipeeth dough –
- ¼ cup Rice flour
- 1 cup Moong dal flour
- 1 Onion (medium) finely cut
- 1 Tomato (small) finely cut
- Fresh Coriander leaves & curry leaves finely chopped
- 3 tsp Coriander powder
- 1 tsp Cumin powder
- ¼ tsp turmeric powder
- Pinch of Asafoetida
- Salt to taste
- 1 tsp Oil
- Water as required
Method :
- Mix finely chopped onion, tomato, curry leaves and coriander leaves in a bowl.
- Add oil (1 tsp), coriander powder, cumin powder, asafoetida, salt and mix well.
- Add rice flour ( ¼ cup) and mix well
- Add moong dal flour ( 1 cup) and mix well by adding water as required.
- The batter should be thicker than that of the nuggets.
- Heat the tawa/pan and add oil. Spread the batter evenly on the pan and bore 4 holes in the thalipeeth (pancake). Add oil in the holes.
- Put the lid and cook it for 3-4 minutes till golden brown. Turn and cook the other side till you see it brown too.
- Serve this moong dal thali-peeth hot with mint chutney or butter.
